Diary of the Nike Human Race Los Angeles- City of Angels

First of all, hope that all of you enjoyed your Labor Day Weekend, and it’s actually been a pretty busy News weekend, and I thought you might want to see a video/blog diary of the Nike Human Race- Los Angeles. Shout-out to Christina Hoang, photographer/Event planner for letting me borrow her digital camera!!

I ran this 10 K race this past Sunday on 8/31/08 in Los Angeles, and it was my first marathon run ever, and it was definitely an achievement that I’d never thought about accomplishing. The Nike Human Race was the biggest running event in history with races in 25 different cities across the world including LA, New York,London, Madrid, Paris, Istanbul, Melbourne, Shanghai, São Paulo and Vancouver. After each race, there was a headlining musical act, and here in the City of Angels, we were lucky enough to have Kanye West. Awesome.

Thanks to Amy and the rest of the Youthnoise team for inviting me along with their team, as well as the masseuses they provided. That was DEFINITELY a great start to the race.

I got to the LA Coliseum relatively early and was greeted by a Sea of Red, a.k.a. Runners in Red shirts.

The Sports Arena...

And Vitamin Energy… I had the Dragonfruit flavor and it was a bit too sweet.

And it wouldn’t be girlatastartup without some impromptu interviews with the Flip Mino
Meet Detective Callum and Officer Dodson

Volunteers/The USC Dragonbow Team (I still don’t really know what this is)

Some of the Runners…Erin and Lauren..soon to be College Frosh

Then.. Disaster struck! I was so busy doing interviews that I didn’t have time to put my bag in my car or check it at the stand. So, I was faced with a choice:
Leave my bag with some random person VS. Run with my bag
Guess what I did? That’s right. I ran with my bag. UGH.

So the race begins…

After 2 stops and Mile 4…

Reaching the end of the finish line, I was sweaty, had a heavy bag on my arm, and contemplated walking to the finish line and then… I saw all the FLASHING LIGHTS and the people cheering on the finish line.

I dedicated this race to my parents as well as all the charities involved including the Lance Armstrong Foundation, the World Wildlife Fund, and Ninemillion.org.
The cherry on top was the performance by Kanye West at the end. Shout- out to everyone who participated!
Here is a video of Kanye performing “Champion,” which was the first song he did after the end of Nike Human Race- Los Angeles

Now…the next race!!! Um. Just kidding. I’m still sore.
