Bad Dates…and ESPN
Probably due to the exorbitant gas prices in LA and the rest of the U.S., I’m not going on some really bad-ass road trip or a taking to flight to Costa Rica.
But I am doing some work right now on this strangely cold Saturday afternoon, and of course, needed to do some random Internet surfing. I always feel like I read the same articles about the following topics.
1) Something health advice that I’ve read about a million times
2) The latest Biz/Tech headlines which tends to depress me
3) The same exact relationship advice that’s just worded/packaged differently
4) Something really gossipy and random about the latest celeb escapades… (You just can’t look away)
So, I came across the MSN article called “5 Dates No Guy Wants to Go On,” The way to actually make a guy go shopping with you is to just say that you need to pick something up from one store, then keep the conversation going about topics that guys’ like to discuss, and before you know you it, you’ll have hit 5-10 shops. (This doensn’t ALWAYS work, but it has a high success rate)
The description of the “Opera” bad date was pretty funny. That’s definitely a scene in a sitcom.
Girl meets boy. Chemistry. Girl dates boy. Girl wants boy to go to the opera with her. Boy cringes but concedes. Girl and boy go to the Opera. She cries and is emotionally moved. Boy wonders why the fat lady is singing and wants to go home to watch Sportscenter. Girl asks boy if he loved the opera.
Boy says it was the most moving thing he’s seen in his life.
Oh yeah, go Lakers!!

Wait a second. One of my girl friends did that to me and we weren’t even on a date. She said “hey you mind if we stop off at an art store just to pick up 1 thing.” The whole time she’s talking to me about health foods, she knows I’m all into that now, you know asparagus cleans your system, yada yada yada. 3 hours later I’m in H&M buying some white pants and I don’t even need white pants. She’s good. really good.
