Fo’ Sho
So, recently I was one of the actors who did a script reading for the WGA High School Screenwriting workshop in East LA. We went to the Roosevelt High School and did a cold reading of several scripts from a group of high school kids. They were great, wise-cracking and sarcastic, but it was obvious that they got a kick out of having their stuff read. I wish I had a class like that in high school! I would’ve taken that class any day over incredibly useful classes like Shop class or AP Physics or Home Ec.
Anyway, I played a character named “Fo’Sho.” I’m being completely serious here, and this kid’s script was pretty funny…with a ton of profanity. I think its a great program and I hope to be reading at the next one.
I went up to the kid and told him that he was funny and that he should keep writing, and his face lit up. That definitely made my day.
